You get a pretty amazing discount. Tonight I bought a pie-only cookbook (because obviously!) and it cost me $4 plus tax. I also ate a free half-slice of Two Boots pizza while watching bluegrass bands perform, so there’s that too.
Oh and even if you aren’t a volunteer, there’s a store-wide 30% off sale this weekend, so go buy some things!
The best thing about volunteering at Housing Works (aside from everything because I love it) is free drinks, free events, free wifi.
Visit me in the cafe at Housing Works this Thursday for Tumblr Prep! You know you want to go and you know you want me to make you a latte.

I volunteered at Housing Works’ debate party last night and the whole store erupted in laughter after the “horses and bayonets” line. So so great.

AMERICANA JAMBOREE #5
friday. october 5. 6 pm. free.
@ Housing Works Bookstore (126 Crosby St)
Free! Pizza! Boot stompin’! This Friday.
If I was in town, I would definitely go to this because our cafe manager, Amy, is playing and she’s super cool! If you enjoy pizza, music, dancin’ or are just bored on Friday, go go go!
One bed and two bookshelves. What more could you want?
Um, an actual bed? And probably a bathroom. Several things more, in fact.
Not sure who runs the HW tumblr, but guuuurl you’re killin’ it with this + all those whale-related posts.

Join us at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe for free drinks, fun swag, mixing, mingling, and readings by Edan Lepucki, Alexander Chee, and Baratunde Thurston.
Go to this and hang out with me! I also want to go to the Bookrageous/Vol. 1 Brooklyn/FSG party on Monday and the Comedians with Books show at Union Hall and I’m volunteering at the Housing Works Street Fair Sunday as wellll as BEA Wednesday morning (probably, if they get back to me). I’m maybe as stoked about this week as I was in college about CMJ.

I requested “Call Me Maybe” at karaoke, so hopefully I can sing it next weekend. I didn’t sing tonight, but instead had some Beam (pictured) and watched that chick from Baylor “who can dunk!” not get into a fight. I was disappointed.
Also, I went to a party tonight for Housing Works volunteers. Have I mentioned that I’ve been volunteering in the cafe at HW Bookstore on here? I feel like no. Anyway, it’s really awesome and any of you in the NYC-area should look into becoming a volunteer! It’s a good cause (helping people with HIV/AIDS), it’s only a few hours every week (4 hours or more), you can learn cool things (like how to make a latte!) and you meet so many cool people. Also, they have a lot of cool events (I’ve been to a reading, a concert and a movie screening at the bookstore) and a bunch of thrift stores around the city (my sister volunteers at one of them). And I just want you guys to know, since I’m never overly promotional on this blog (am I?? I hope not!), I’m serious about this.
Please join me on Tuesday, March 20th for a night of fantastic readings, prizes, and heated convos about Downton Abbey. Sponsored by Tumblr. See you soon!

Let’s go to this, y’all.
The We’ve Got Mail team got together to view of rough cut of the “interactive experience” this evening and, if this GIF is any indication, it’s going to be wonderful.
See you all in a week!
