you should watch The Chris Gethard Show tomorrow night because Amy Poehler will be there. Amy Poehler! You like her!
A week or so ago I turned in my first piece for Storyboard, a profile of Chris Gethard and The Chris Gethard Show. Storyboard shut down last night.
Anyway so if you like my feature, please share it, because it’s not like it’s going anywhere else.

HOLY SHIT, YOU GUYS. I want to be on a Bachelorette-style show with Adam Scott, Adam Brody, Ryan Hansen, Colin Hanks and more awesome comedy dudes vying for my love. (Just kidding, Joe, if you’re reading this!) If you didn’t watch the first season, who are you and what are you doing reading my blog, but also, click here and watch it, ya dummies.
Coconut. Berry. Lemon. Tree.
COCONUT. BERRY. LEMON. TREE.
AUGUST 23rd.
Second best text I’ve received today: “I kind of want to rent a tuxedo for it.” (First was obviously to inform me about this show.)
This makes me so sad because BWE’s website and podcasts (which they haven’t been making for years now, but ya know) are how I discovered so many of my favorite comedians.
The New York Times (!!) on Chris Gethard
I have so many things I want to say about the final Totally J/K last night.
Before the show, Chloe and I went to the Hello Giggles birthday show because Ruby is the greatest (did you see the music video [just watch this; it’s somewhere in there] she and Alyssa made for Chris Gethard for his birthday?!) and so is Shannon O’Neill (she hosted TCGS on Wednesday and it was great and I’m glad she also hates Tosh.0 because it is THE WORST and also I really want to go see The Stepfathers tonight or at least soon). Mimi, of TCGS/”on the hoops” fame, checked our tickets and I told her she’s awesome and that I also hoop.
After that show we hung out in the bar for a while and when we went back into the theater, it was packed, but luckily we could still find seats. (Oh and weird note about the UCBeast bar: I had two beers last night. One was $2, which is real cheap for a Blue Point lager on draft, right? And the second was $6, which I was fine with because that’s how much it costs most places, but it was kind of huge jump up from $2 even if there was a happy hour or something. Anyway. Also I got pretty drunk off just two beers because all I had for dinner was a slice of pizza because I am a mess.)
There were so many great comedians there. I knew John Mulaney was scheduled, but I had no idea Jim Gaffigan was also performing. Mulaney talked about visiting shooting locations for Friday Night Lights—which I really want to do if I ever go to Texas—and almost getting arrested for taking photos of children by accident. Gaffigan was also really great even though he didn’t tell his hot pocket joke, which is my fave.
This girl Emily Heller was there too. I had never heard of her before yesterday, but I immediately liked that she is a fellow cat sitter and once wore a thing of oregano as a necklace. She talked about a cat-on-boot sex tape that she made of her sister’s cat, which she invited the audience to watch on her phone after the show and I kind of wanted to just because she said no one had ever taken her up on it, but I don’t really want to see a cat-on-boot sex tape so I didn’t.
Noah and Joe didn’t talk all that much, but played a bunch of their videos, which are all hilarious. Especially the Ultimate Aaliyah Fan Video because she’s “more than a llama,” you guys. At the end, Noah hugged Joe and it just reminded me that one of my best friends is also leaving for LA and ~*television*~ next month and then I got all sad for Noah and for myself and I think maybe I was just drunk, but whatever.
I’m so stoked that one of my favorite comedians is going to write for one of my favorite television shows, but jeeze, LA, stop stealing all my favorite New Yorkers. Oh and obviously I’m going to Totally J/K this week. And I’m so glad he referenced my favorite of his jokes in this tweet.
going to Totally J/K tonight!!
Vanessa Bayer’s gonna be there!!
I like her quite a bit!!!!
Guess who else (aside from Noah Garfinkel, who I’m super stoked to see again!) is going to be at Totally JK tonight, you guys. Chris Gethard! Woo!

I am hoping to finally visit LA in the fall and obviously will be referring to this list of comedy shows (and the UCB LA calendar) for my itinerary.
Also, if y’all have any suggestions of things to do along the west coast, my plan (which may or may not work out) is to fly to Seattle and drive there so I can go to Portland (and see Lindsay!) and Big Sur (my dad was there on a business trip and says it’s awesome?) and whatever else.
Rob is addicted to reminiscing! New Rob’s Room is up now and features Shannon Coffey! Reblog it if you have a friend who does this to you!
Rebloggin’ mostly for his Orioles hat, but also because ‘I Hate Being Single’ is a pretty funny web series y’all should check out.

Chris Gethard had no idea that when he agreed to be a guest on Pete Holmes’ live taping of “You Made It Weird” at SXSW that he was also agreeing to get on stage with Judd Apatow. He definitely felt weird about it, but in general we think it’s safe to say that everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.
Holy shit, that would be an awesome movie. Make it happen, Apatow!
This is my favorite episode we’ve ever done. It features Joe Mande, Jeff Rubin, Kay Cannon, Grizz Chapman, Jack McBrayer, Seth Meyers, Tina Fey, Zachary Levi, Bobby Moynihan, Ruby, and many more. It also features a very cool girl named Alyssa, and I think we did our best to give her a fun, memorable night. With music by a man I’ve always admired, Ted Leo. One of the lyrics from his song “Bottled in Cork” probably sums up the night - A little goodwill goes a mighty long way. I hope that’s true. There is never ever any harm in being nice to other people. Thanks to everyone who was a part of this and helped make it happen.
Yesterday, I reblogged something about how the world can be awful sometimes, but today I’d like to reblog something about how the world can be the complete opposite sometimes too. Some people are just really really nice and I wish everyone was like that. Last week, I went to TCGS and told Chris I loved the show/his book/blah blah blah and he was super nice and seems so appreciative of fans coming to the show. Ugh, I’m just like gushing about this and I should shut up so y’all can watch the above video and see for yourself how awesome and wonderful The Chris Gethard Show is.
Part of me thinks it’s too soon to be writing about this because I don’t think I’ve completely processed how I feel, but I also think maybe this has happened to other women and I should talk about it in as raw a way as possible. I’m still really embarrassed and ashamed and garbled up inside, but maybe this can start a helpful discussion in terms of women and comedy.
Further proof that the world is an awful, terrifying place sometimes. :(
